Description
Expansion tape is a compressed swelling tape for storm-resistant sealing, with a polymer impregnation for long-term stability. The BG1 classification of the expansion tape guarantees complete wind and water tightness (driving rain) up to wind force 11 at a building height of 100 metres. In addition, the tape is almost completely vapour permeable (Sd-value 0.5). Due to its slow expansion, the tape can be applied from the roll. The expansion tape can be painted or plastered, but is itself UV and weather resistant.
Application
- Sealing of construction joints such as those in windows, doors and facades.
- Sealing of expansion joints in facades.
- Windproofing of joints and roof linings.
- Acoustic and thermal insulation of prefabricated buildings and timber frames.
- Alternative or supplement to polyurethane foam (the use of the expansion strip during the installation of windows creates a well-finished edge on the outside, which guarantees watertightness and at the same time forms an effective barrier for the possible application of polyurethane foam as additional insulation).

- Tape composition: soft Polyurethane foam, impregnation with flame-retardant polymer dispersion (B1).
- Adhesive: synthetic rubber.
- Colour: black.
- DIN 18542 class: BG1.
- Rain resistance: > 600 Pa (wind force 11).
- Air density (EN 12114): a ≤ 1.0 [m³/(h.m.(daPa)n].
- Water vapour permeability: Sd < 0.5 m (= open to vapour).
- Insulation value: λ (lambda) = 0.043 W/mK.
- Fire behaviour DIN 4102: B1 (fireproof material).
- Temperature resistance: 30°C to +90°C.
- Processing temperature: +5°C to +35°C.
- Can be painted: yes.
- Shelf life: 24 months, stored in cool, dry conditions in the original packaging.
Instructions
- Apply to stable, dry and clean surfaces. Parallel joints will ensure optimum clamping results.
- Use a tape clamp to prevent the roll from stretching.
- Remove the protective film and stick the tape into the joint without stretching it. Apply 2-3 mm from the outside of the joint for an aesthetic result. Apply from bottom to top and press with a spatula.
- Apply in straight lines, without bends.
- To avoid moisture penetration:
- In corners: apply the horizontal strip first, then the vertical piece.
- For cross-connections: first apply the vertical strip along the entire length. Then the horizontal pieces.
- In cold conditions, expansion can be accelerated by heating the tape with a hot air generator (max 100°C). Substrates based on PE, PP, silicones and bitumen must first be tested for adhesion.
